Paris,
Security at airports has taken on an added importance in recent years. Very visible security, such as armed police, is designed to act as a deterrent. However, equally important are the more passive forms of detection and
monitoring.
And that is where CEDES’ ESPROS/GO camera sensor and cegard/Max light curtain, are to the
fore.

A key component in airport security
The president of CEDES France, Didier
Dutkiewicz, is proud that this combination of CEDES devices helps protect airports all over France, through
CEDES’ partnership with French automatic door manufacturer, Record
Industry. Having developed FLIP-FLOW, an automatic entrance gate for airports which ensures the flow of people goes in the required
direction, Record Industry also needed to ensure that the passenger areas remain separate from the general public
areas. The detection of foreign objects left in the immediate area of these
gates, was also a key requirement.
“We were able to offer ESPROS/GO, which fulfilled all the direction requirements that Record Industry
had,” explains Dutkiewicz. “We combined this with cegard/Max, which enables the detection of any objects on the ground within the FLIP-FLOW
area.” He continues, “The FLIP-FLOW system is installed in the biggest airport in France, Roissy Charles de Gaulle, in Paris, as well as in regional airports such as Bordeaux and
Mulhouse.”
Mr. Remy Deschenaux, R&D Special Products manager with Record Industry says that the partnership with CEDES France has proved key to its success in the area of airport
security. “People understand the need for security measures at
airports. But they still don’t like it when these measures cost them time and
trouble. Our FLIP-FLOW system, with the help of ESPROS/GO and cegard/Max, helps ensure the directional flow of people is both free moving and
effective. We are very satisfied with the quality and effectiveness of these
products,” he concludes.
