Elevator Modernization made easy

Landquart; Modernizing existing elevator equipment is more valid today than ever before. This does not simply mean freshening up the aesthetics of the older equipment. Existing elevator equipment often needs to be modernized due to new safety regulations, higher comfort demands, but also for increased efficiency or for the intrinsic value of the buildings. As one of the leading manufacturers of optical sensors and controller components for the elevator industry, CEDES offers elevator companies many interesting solutions with which they can adjust their existing equipment very economically and easily to the new requirements.

cegard/3D – Three-dimensional safeguarding of elevator entrances
There are application areas, such as retirement homes or hospitals, where the safeguarding of the door using solely optical door edges no longer suffices. CEDES specially developed cegard/3D for these “no compromise” applications.

Alongside the danger zone between the doors, the 3D system additionally monitors the area in front of the doors. People and objects that approach the elevator doors during the closing process are reliably detected and the door is reopened before someone can be injured or an object damaged. Compared to other 3D monitoring systems available on the market, the detection area does not reduce while the doors are closing, thus ensuring dependable detection during the entire closure process. Because of the modular design, cegard/3D is virtually predestined for modernization. Existing 2D elevator door safeguarding, i.e. only equipped with optical door edges, can be upgraded using an additional 3D sensor, to a 3D system. cegard/3D can be combined with every light curtain system available on the market, irrespective of origin, type or manufacturer.

cegard/Max – adaptable and proven
The cegard/Max door edge has revolutionized the monitoring of elevator doors, in relation to safety and lifespan, since its introduction more than 10 years ago. The robustness and the absolute dependability, even in adverse conditions, is highly valued by elevator manufacturers and carriers. Furthermore, modernization can be realized incredibly quickly and economically. Thanks to the flexible design, cegard/Max can be perfectly integrated into existing equipment. The position of the individual beams, as well as the height monitored, can be specified to the millimeter according to customers’ requirements and wishes. Additionally, various mounting kits are available for the most diverse door types, which ensure a simple and dependably functioning installation.

cegard/Lift – Safe even without cabin doors
In various European countries, new regulations such as EN 81-80 demand that a safety device must monitor elevators without car doors. As a cost-effective alternative to the subsequent fitting of interior car doors, CEDES offers the cegard/Lift light curtain family. Certified in accordance with EN 954-1, category 2 (cegard/Lift LI), respectively IEC 61508, SIL 3, cegard/Lift provides the required safety and with this, also maintains the value of older elevator equipment. With an operating range of up to 8 meters, it is also ideal for large freight elevators.

Long-term maintenance of value
By using innovative products, equipped with the most up-to-date technology, the safety, efficiency and comfort of existing elevator equipment can be improved very quickly and comparatively inexpensively. High quality components ensure reliability and the long-tem preservation of value.
