CEDES features in leading Asian newspaper

The Grand Promenade in Hong Kong is just one of many city landmark buildings using CEDES sensors

Landquart; CEDES has long realized the importance of the Asian market for its products. Hong Kong’s top-selling South China Morning Post daily newspaper has taken notice and recognized the growing presence of the Swiss opto-sensor company in the region.

The recent edition of its Switzerland Special Report, which focuses on the both the leading and up-and-coming Swiss companies in the Asian market, features an interview with CEDES founder and President, Beat De Coi.

Under the heading ‘CEDES sensors soar in mainland skies’, the article states: “Those who want to make it to the top in Hong Kong or Shanghai rely on CEDES’ light curtains to get them there. CEDES is a Swiss opto-sensor specialist that ensures the safety and comfort of those using lifts in skyscrapers.”

It relates how the Landquart-based company opened its new Changshu facility in China and reveals its plans to expand the workforce there from 100 to 500 over the next five years.

CEDES enjoys busiest Interlift ever

The 3D sensor IMS 100

Landquart; With its biggest ever booth at the event, CEDES also enjoyed its best ever Interlift success. A record number of people visited the 11 m x 8 m stand over the four days of interlift ’09, securing CEDES’ standing as the leading supplier of infrared sensors and light curtains for the global elevator industry.

As expected, the IMS 100 Time of Flight 3D camera sensor was the focus of much of the attention. Officially launched earlier this year, interlift ’09 provided the ideal opportunity for customers to view the revolutionary device at first hand.
The CEDES booth featured a set of fully functioning elevator doors equipped with the IMS 100 sensor (see photo to the left). This enabled visitors to experience how intending passengers are quickly detected and the elevator doors reopened, without having to either re-hail the elevator or stick a hand between the closing doors.

CEDES Vice-President Marketing & Sales, Ulrich Hotz comments: “When they saw the IMS 100 in action, several customers commented that the camera sensor is such a natural addition to efficient elevator operation, ... more

cegard/Lift‘s ‘performance‘ impresses on Swedish stage

The cegard/Lift ensures safe performances at
Stockholm‘s City Theatre

Landquart; The cegard/Lift light curtain is already well established in Germany, Austria, Denmark and Switzerland. Thanks to the combined efforts of CEDES and Compotech, its distribution partner in Sweden, cegard/Lift has now established itself in the Swedish market.

Some 40,000 elevators which operate without inner doors are installed throughout the country. According to the standards imposed in 2008, these elevators have to be upgraded by the year
2012. As is the case in other countries, an inner door (e.g. a folding door) must be mounted to safeguard the elevator, wherever this is feasible. Where that is not possible, the safe movement of goods and passengers must be achieved ... more

The Micro MF for train doors applications is undergoing evaluation in northern Germany

Landquart; CEDES has developed a special Micro MF light curtain for railway applications. A number of these have been successfully installed in a Bombardier train in Germany for a trial phase and initial results have been very positive. The Micro MF protects the closing area of the train’s main entrance doors. They are installed right on the doorplate - so they work in dynamic operation close to zero distance.
T
For this project, CEDES is working together with Austrian door manufacturer IFE, the train manufacturer Bombardier, the Deutsche Bahn (DB), and the German Federal Railway Authority (Eisenbahnbundesamt EBA) which has released the project for a field trial phase of several months. IMS pilot project at Chur State Hospital

The IMS 100 (marked in red) is installed
at Chur State Hospital

Landquart; The IMS 100 sensor, launched at the 2009 Sales Meeting, uses 3D- technology to monitor an elevator’s entrance area. It reliably detects approaching people or objects and reopens the door. Three IMS 100 sensors were installed at the State Hospital in Chur in a pilot project in March. They upgrade very busy elevators that move beds as well as people and equipment between hospital wards.According to the hospital’s maintenance department, the elevator doors had been frequently damaged by beds or heavy food trolleys. This resulted in costly repairs for door panels and out-of-service times for the elevator. In addition, handicapped people were often unable to catch the elevator in time. The IMS 100 is designed to eliminate such problems and has provided very impressive results.
