Safer flat screen production with SafeC 400

Landquart; Flat screen TVs and monitors are gradually taking over our living rooms and offices. They are replacing their CRT counterparts more and more thanks to their slenderness and low power consumption.

Samsung Electric in Korea is one of the world’s largest flat screen manufacturers. Production at Samsung is highly automated. To transport the glass panels for the flat screens between the individual manufacturing steps, so-called AGVs (Automatically Guided Vehicle) are used. So Samsung went in search of a safety controller which could simultaneously monitor the emergency stop button, the safety bumpers and the safety light curtain, and that is when they discovered CEDES.

The AGVs are equipped with the SafeC 400 safety controller. Alongside the multiple component monitoring and the simplicity of the cabling, the engineers at Samsung were convinced by the ease of which the controller is configured. For instance, all the safety
components could be calibrated for ‘auto-start’ with just a few mouse clicks in accordance with the EN 60204 and the regulations for the official semiconductor test center were effortlessly fulfilled. The CEDES Representative in Korea and the product management from CEDES in Landquart supported Samsung in the speedy implementation.
