
CEDES Insights: Our new digital platform as a catalyst for change
At CEDES, we have reached a point where our existing ERP system and decentralized processes could no longer keep up with our evolving business strategy and the truly global organization that we have become. As we shift from offering purely physical products towards digital solutions and expand to new market segments, we need future-proof processes and systems that can support this transformation and empower our global workforce to successfully deal with any opportunities and challenges that may arise.
To achieve this objective, we are using the implementation of MS Dynamics 365 as a catalyst for change. Based on D365 standard functionalities, we are implementing new, global processes to enable a unified way of working and foster collaboration and continuous improvement across the CEDES world. This is the task of our global process owners and key users who are looking for common denominators and closing the gaps to define new processes that fit the needs of all our entities. They are empowered to shape the future way of working at CEDES while also being accountable for delivering a smooth go-live in their area of responsibility.
We are excited by many opportunities offered by D365, but we want to learn to walk before we run and strike the right balance between implementation speed and risk control. Therefore, we have decided to start with an MVP that will enable us to replace all relevant functionalities and switch off our current ERP after the go-live mid-October. At the same time, we have set up the system so that we can improve and expand it in the following phases. In addition, we have identified a part of the organization that will undergo the most significant changes and planned their go-live 8 weeks later than the rest of the CEDES Group, once the new system and processes are stable. We believe that the manageable MVP scope and the phased rollout will guarantee a successful transition.
For CEDES, this is a very significant and exciting transformation. While the employees are motivated and look forward to a modern way of working, clear and frequent communication at different levels and the empowerment of global process owners and key users are mission critical. For this purpose, we have established a global change network to ensure transparent two-way communication, an exchange platform for GPOs to learn from each other and get support, as well as a modern and sustainable learning concept for the go-live and beyond, helping us to further improve our process quality and achieve operational excellence.
As a finance business partner, I look forward to having one source of truth, providing greater decision support and a foundation to bring our performance management to the next level. While we still have critical months ahead of us, I am convinced that we, as ONE CEDES, will succeed in our digital transformation.
