CEDES Insights: Shaping the future – HR in times of change
The changing world of work
The world of work is undergoing a profound transformation. New technologies, changing expectations, and an increasing shortage of skilled workers are posing major challenges for companies – especially in rural areas. As Head of Human Resources, I experience daily how demanding it has become to attract qualified employees and retain them locally in the long term. The solution increasingly lies in international recruitment and an HR strategy that combines regionality with globalization – while remaining open to new approaches.
From local to global
This transformation also presents tremendous opportunities. Innovation today is not only reflected in products and technologies, but also in the way we collaborate. In recent years, we have all learned that physical presence at a traditional workplace is not always a prerequisite for successful teamwork. That’s why CEDES is hiring more and more employees in regions and countries where we don’t have physical offices. This allows us to attract talent worldwide and support individual lifestyles – a crucial factor in being perceived as an attractive employer.
Flexible work models are no longer just a trend, but a reflection of a modern corporate culture that fosters trust, personal responsibility, and creativity. Thanks to modern communication technologies, our employees can collaborate and communicate regardless of their location – whether in a shared office, at home, on a cruise ship, or in our main office in Landquart. Nevertheless, personal interaction remains important: regular visits to the Swiss headquarters strengthen team spirit and foster a sense of belonging.
Putting people first
At the same time, it is essential that we as an employer clearly communicate what we stand for – because values and culture are decisive for many employees. Exploration, collaboration, and reliability are our core values. Trust, transparency, and appreciation form the foundation of our everyday interactions. By boldly implementing new ideas in HR, we actively shape the future of work – open, connected, and human-centric.
Trends clearly show that companies wanting to succeed must put their employees at the center – with smart technologies, empathetic leadership, and a clear vision. A look at the CEDES crystal makes it clear: Our employees always come first.
The future of work emerges where people, technology, and values harmonize. I would like to thank all our employees worldwide who contribute to the success of CEDES with their commitment, passion, and creativity.
Yours sincerely,
Reto Maron
